• Ram's all-electric 1500 pickup is scheduled to hit your driveway in 2024.
  • Powertrain details such as battery size and motor configuration are still to be confirmed, but will likely be similar to the competitive set.
  • The upcoming EV truck appears to have significantly different styling than its internal-combustion stablemate.

Battery-electric pickup trucks are on the way to becoming popular. Between mainstream manufacturers such as Ford and General Motors and lesser-known brands such as Rivian, the electric truck market is starting to heat up.

The folks at Tesla are also still working on its polarizing Cybertruck, which was recently delayed, again. Not to be left out of the conversation, Ram announced it was jumping into the BEV truck fray during the Stellantis EV day last July. Well, Ram now has some new teasers of its upcoming pickup to give us an idea of what to expect.

Details remain thin about the upcoming Ram’s battery capacity and powertrain, but these teasers show the general direction for the BEV pickup. We can see the nose of the Ram 1500 BEV will feature signature lighting and an illuminated logo in the grille. The rear follows that theme with another illuminated logo flanked by the taillights.

Judging overall design by this teaser is challenging, but it appears this pickup will be significantly different from the current Ram 1500, with a greater emphasis on aerodynamics. Of course, that could change as production nears.

We likely won’t wait too much longer to see a more fleshed-out teaser or physical concept. Ram says this BEV pickup will hit dealers in 2024. That’s nearly two years behind the expected launch of Ford’s F-150 Lightning, and three behind GMC’s Hummer EV and the Rivian R1T.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV should beat the Ram to market by about a year, while an all-electric version of the Toyota Tundra is expected in 2025.

I appears Ram will have to make up a lot of ground when its all-electric truck arrives.

Do you think Ram’s EV efforts will be enough to move the needle, or is it too far behind? Let us know your thoughts below.
