2023 New York Auto Show Round-Up

Here are your highlights from this year’s New York International Auto Show.

The New York International Auto Show news cycle is all but wrapped, but that doesn’t mean you caught it all. While past shows may have had more major reveals, this year’s expo did see some big hitters, ranging from a Genesis GV80 Coupe concept to a refreshed Jeep Wrangler, and everything in between. Without further ado, below you’ll find the major highlights from Manhattan.

2024 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep’s iconic off-roader gets a facelift for 2024. The ’24 Wrangler sees minor exterior enhancements like a new grille but gets a major interior overhaul. On the inside, Jeep swapped the old Uconnect 4 infotainment system with the most recent Uconnect 5 media platform. Controlling the new media system is a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Jeep also expanded the available models that can get the PHEV 4xe powertrain. Hemi V8 fans can sigh in relief as the Rubicon 392 is staying in the lineup.

Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept

The team at Genesis gives the popular GV80 the controversial coupe treatment for the New York International Auto Show. This sleek GV80 Concept sports, well, revised styling and a track-focused interior. The Genesis design team replaced the GV80’s traditional seating with four aggressively bolstered bucket seats. Oh yeah, and bringing the track-focused theme together, this GV80 Concept also has a roll bar inside.

2024 Hyundai Kona and Kona Electric

The new Kona might not be news since it debuted in December 2022, but the folks at Hyundai kept details to a minimum. The company finally fleshed out the US-Spec ’24 Kona’s powertrain and model details at the ’23 New York auto show. The upcoming Kona will come with a pair of electric motor and battery options, or two different internal-combustion powertrains.

2024 Volkswagen Atlas Peak Edition

Joining the trend of more off-road-focused crossovers, the Volkswagen Atlas Peak Edition sees some exterior alterations and all-terrain rubber. This might not be as hardcore of an off-roader as, say, a Jeep Wrangler, but the more rugged crossover trend is getting another player. This Peak Edition will also come standard with Volkswagen’s all-wheel-drive system.

2025 Ram 1500 REV

The battery-electric Ram debuted right ahead of its Super Bowl commercial, but the company didn’t share any more details about the truck at that time. Now we know this battery-electric 1500 REV will offer a pair of massive battery options that will feed a standard two-motor drive system. The Ram 1500 REV also boasts 14,000 pounds worth of towing, and the bigger battery is targeting 500 miles worth of range.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness

Expanding Subaru’s Wilderness offerings, the Crosstrek Wilderness debuts at this year’s New York show. Like the other Wilderness models and the Atlas Peak Edition, this Crosstrek takes the standard Crosstrek bones and gives it some more off-road-friendly appointments. This Subaru sees more aggressive tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, and roof-rack system capable of supporting rooftop tents.
